Don’t miss out on the Centre for Business Analytics’ last event of the year. Dr Hugh Williams, formerly of Google, Microsoft, Tinder and eBay will close out 2017 with exclusive insights from Silicon Valley.
The eBay turnaround from 2009 to 2014 was spectacular. After languishing to an historically low market cap of US$5 billion, five years later its market cap was close to US$30 billion.
In this talk, former eBay Vice President Dr Hugh Williams tells the inside story of the turnaround - how changing the culture, driving disruption, focusing on the customer, and using data to drive decisions rebuilt the company.
Hugh was based at eBay's head office in California from 2009 to 2013, and lead a team of over 1,000 engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists that built most of what you'd recognize as eBay. He has also held executive roles as VP of Google Maps at Google, Partner at Microsoft, VP at Tinder, and SVP at Pivotal. Prior to that, he spent over 10 years researching and developing search technologies, and 5 years running his own startup and consultancy.
