The Marketing Association is pleased to welcome alumnus from our exchange partner school IE Business School and esteemed Associate Professor Fernando Cortinas.
 
Fernando Cortinas is one of the highly ranked professors by students with almost 25 years of teaching experience. He is a Harvard MBA, whose substantial teaching experience is matched by a diverse corporate carrier path ranging from McKinsey to Manufacturing and Telecommunications.  During these last 24 years he has taught different courses in the field of marketing, mainly International Marketing, Marketing Strategy & Planning, Marketing & New Technologies, and Marketing for Telco & Digital Business.

Fernando Cortinas is one of the highly ranked by students professors with almost 25 years of teaching experience. He is a Harvard MBA, whos substantial teaching experience is matched by a diverse corporate carrier path ranging from McKinsey to Manufacturing and Telecommunications.

After graduating with Bachelor in Administration and CPA with Honours from the Catholic University within his five years in Deutsche Babcock Group, a leading company in the equipment manufacturing industry Fernando held several managerial positions in Argentina and Germany. Later completing his MA and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1990 he went onto developing his career in international arena. In 1992 after moving to Spain he worked at managerial positions in different international corporations, joining the Telefónica Group in 2000. Until 2014, he has served as Director of Market Development at the Global Security Unit of Telefonica Digital, with responsibilities over more than 20 countries in America, Asia and Europe. Prior to this position, he was Market Development Director at the eHealth Unit of the same company, and Head of the Government & Health Sector at Telefonica Empresas America, covering clients in 15 countries in the LatAm region, and International Sales Director at Telefoinca Soluciones. He also had other positions within the Telefonica Group, such as CEO of Katalyx Catalogs and at Telefonica B2B.

Being passionate about history and international marketing he continues to travel the world ¨as when I teach international marketing I want to know first hand what I am teaching not just from the books¨. As of today he has visited 90 countries with his job, master classes and consulting practice working with some world´s leading companies. Fernando speaks Spanish, English, Portugese, Italian and German.

Fernando Cortiñas is currently acting as Associate Professor at IE Business School., where he has been teaching since 1992. During these last 24 years he has taught different courses in the field of marketing, mainly International Marketing, Marketing Strategy & Planning, Marketing & New Technologies, and Marketing for Telco & Digital Business. He is also a visiting professor at other Universities in Europe, Africa and Latin America, such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (Chile), Universidad de San Andrés (Argentina), Universidad Católica Argentina, Universidade de Porto and Porto Business School (Portugal), Universidad del Externado (Colombia), and some other institutions in the region.
